MiLB Licensed 8x10s

I just wanted to share a relatively new company that has been producing licensed MiLB 8x10 and 16x20 photos. Future Star Photos carries a large selection of photos of top prospects from minor league teams around the country. These guys are the equivalent of Photofile for the minors. Many of the photos that I've shown and will show on this blog can be purchased there.

Home Grown Talent

In the first supplemental round of the 2008 MLB draft the Oakland Athletics selected San Francisco Bay Area native Tyson Ross. Not only was Ross born in Berkeley and raised in Oakland, he pitched for the Cal Golden Bears giving him very strong ties to the area.

Ross started off his professional career with the Kane County Cougars with mixed results. He left the Midwest League with a 4.66 ERA with 16 strikeouts and five walks over 19.1 innings pitched. During the Northern Division Series of the California League Playoffs, Ross was called up to start game two as the Stockton Ports faced the San Jose Giants. He gave the Ports a solid five innings in his debut allowing no earned runs and striking out five while only allowing two hits and one walk.

The Death of the Photoshelter Collection

I had been using the Photoshelter Collection as a repository for my photos of top tier prospects in the California League however as of October 10, 2008 the Photoshelter Collection will cease to exist. Now it looks like I'll have to find a new place to peddle my photos. If anyone is looking for photos from the California League for editorial use, feel free to contact me through my website, Chris Talley Photography.

Now on to something more entertaining. With the playoffs complete, lets have a look at a couple of players that were called up to help their teams. First up is the 2008 first round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants, Buster Posey. While Buster didn't help the Giants make it to the final round, he did help San Jose the most tickets for a single playoff game in the history of the francise during his debut with the club on September 6, 2008 (Att: 3,713).

Los Angels Angels prospect Peter Bourjos is currently leading the California League with 45 stolen bases.
